The only change to the driver in that cycle was one which altered the behaviour of the IRQ handlers to avoid using HOLD_LINE unnecessarily. If anything's caused it, it's that, but I'm not in a position to check right now.

UPDATE as of 127u3 - tried to reproduce this to track it down, and couldn't. Can this be reconfirmed as occurring? It might be a watchdog timing issue that varies between different PCs.

Worked ok after I deleted all traces of nvram - before it acted like described by OP. I'll try to isolate a fixed version - if that's possible.

EDIT: The second time I ran with credits already in there after exiting - I get the reset shown by OP (after about 7 seconds). This isn't fixed then. I'll narrow down a actual regression version then..

Cannot reproduce 2012-03-17, SDLMAME64 0.145u4

Given the many improvements made in relevant areas in the years since this was last reproduced, I think it's save to close this one out. Resolved.

Found 'Fixed' version. You must delete the old NVRAM file first, then start the game with INSERT COIN.
After this start the game a second time with the new generated NVRAM. Press FAST FORWARD and you see the game resets.
