Summary 05266: tempest: Game resets at odd times during red levels
Description It might take a few tries to happen, but if you are able to reach the red levels and play them, usually level 20..21, the game will hang and watchdog reset will kick in and reset your game.
Steps To Reproduce use save state and try shooting at any spikes in the tube you see - it should crash fairly quickly.

Per request I ventured to find an more precise regression and I believe I have it. The range it falls upon is (r16406 - no crash) and (r16423 - daily build crashed 2 times in 3 tries). This leaves a very strong suspect revision (r16408) which involves interrupt/clock handling.

Solution was to force "Prefect Sync" which does effect emulation performance a bit in trade for the most accurate as possible exchanges and communications between multiple CPUs.
