Summary 05681: SDL-based: Most Laserdisc CHD games either do not boot or have other issues
Description Specific to SDLMAME (Windows), the Laserdisc CHDs are not working as described below:

cliffhgr, cobra, cobram3 - hangs immediately before loading
firefox - second sky stage (choose 3000mi mission) the video screen freezes, but targets continue to show
cubeqst - no coin - no video - seems to hang at "Cube Button for Instruction" screen
mach3 - "Disc Error - Stay Put" error while entering initials on high score screen

usvsthem seems to be the only image I was able to play without issue

Update from Barnacle Ed:
On SDLMAME64 0.154 running on Linux x64, I tested "cliffhgr", which does not hang, however it also does not work properly. Audio plays, but no video plays, either in the disc test or in attract/game mode. This is all I am able to test at the current time, but the problem extends beyond SDL on Windows.

This reminds other bug - problems with synchronization with throttle off and waitsync (or sync to monitor) enabled and mt disabled. Most of laserdisc games with such configuration changing speed constantly for example from 98% to 102%.

LD games work in -video soft; they do not work in either plain or GLSL accelerated mode. That can be used as a workaround for the time being.

Sadly what I reported above is the same either -video soft or -video opengl in Windows SDL.

Confirming video does display using -video soft in Linux SDLMAME.
