Summary 05848: Gaming Window Doesn't Center 100% Correctly
Description Hi,

My specs;

Slackware 14.1 x86_64
Openbox 3.5.2
tint2 (svn) panel
Nvidia GTX660M - nvidia-driver-346.35
 xorg-server-1.14.3
QMC2 0.48
mame 0.157 & 0.158

I reported this to the QMC2 developer and he told me this has nothing to do with QMC2, and to report it to mame developers.

I'm using the QMC2 frontend for mame, and I noticed when I start a game, the gaming window isn't centered 100% correctly, it sits a little lower of center on my screen.

While the centering isn't 100% correct, it's still not bad, but I thought this should be brought to your attention to improve and get it exactly centered.

I'm attaching a screen shot, game_window.jpg, you'll notice in the screen shot that the window is lower from the top, sits more towards the bottom of center.

In QMC2 options, I have for the 'per window video option' resolution0 set to 1600x900@60

I also do not use a mame.ini, the QMC2 says not to use one, so I only use QMC2 options for this, and they are correctly set.

You need to leave QMC2 out of the equation and confirm the problem still happens at the command-line.

Hi Robbbert,

I get the same results running mame 0.157 & 0.158 from the cmd line as;

mame /path/to/rom/game.zip

I took another screen shot, game_window3.jpg, showing mame being run from the cmd line, and this time I killed tint2 from the desktop to show you how the window looks, with the off center, with nothing else being displayed on the desktop to see it better.

I've attached a copy of my mame.ini if this helps to see the settings I use...

I'm not 100% certain this is MAME's doing either. I suspect the WM but I don't have any proof to back this up.

I just updated to 0.159 and now it doesn't even open up in the center, it opens in the upper left of my screen... :(

Please see the new screen shot; window_upper_left.jpg

I wanted to report back that in 0.160 the window is still opening up in the upper left of my screen.
