Summary MESS-specific 06228: megadriv [comix] genesis [comixu]: Comix Zone Title Screen
Description There is a strange graphical split to the title screen in Comix Zone (any region or version) after the background image 'rolls down' to reveal itself. The background image shifts down half the screen, and bottom part of the background image reappears at the top of the screen. Foreground logo, text, copyright information and menu options are not affected.
Steps To Reproduce Simply run any of the Comix Zone game versions for any region and wait for the title screen. I used the official MAME 0.174 64-bit binary with the integrated UI with all supported Software List ROMs. I am using Windows 10 Pro x64, and the MAME folder is completely clean (not copied over a previous version), freshly extracted, with only modifications to the ROMs path performed.
Additional Information I cannot remember with any certainty if there was a previous version of MAME or MESS where this did not happen. I am fairly certain that it this has been present for the last 2 or 3 MAME versions. It does not occur with various other Sega emulators I have tried, though. I thought this might be something worth looking into and perhaps be an easy fix.
