Summary 06398: spang, spangj, sbbros: The game crashes after the RAM/ROM test/Missing graphics.
Description The game doesn't load. All that happens in sbbros is the game loads, but it's stuck at the RAM/ROM test. When I boot up spang or spangj, the game loads but the graphics are missing and you can still insert coins, but as soon as you do, the game resets itself.

I attached an error log to help sort this problem out.

All the games you mention work for me on Windows 7, 64-bit/32-bit and Debug build of 0.178 from mamedev.org .. all boot to title, allow credit and play the game without loss of any graphics or any of the issues you mentioned.
Are you using cheats? Clear any excess nvram/cfg contents and try again. Try also a fresh install in a new folder and check this out as well.

I've confirmed that between 0.174 and 0.175, changes came about that made any old nvram contents make the game malfunction.
I'll investigate further and see if the issue with nvram is with purpose or by accident.

In any case, deleting nvram will fix this. On that basis, I'll close the bug.
