If MAME could be assured of frontend support, including external frontends, for Unicode in set names, this sort of change would be trivial. I don't think this is exactly doable right now.

I think if we accept this, the Russian game named "Snezhnaja Koroleva" should be described as "Снежная Королева", ultimately Japanese games would follow.

Ok. Fair enough to keep the way it is right now.

Check out the Attaché.

I disagree with renaming to Russian, Japanese or other languages though, as most people will not be able to type it, read it or pronounce it.

Yeah it's true.
If Attaché can be used, then SAM Coupé should be the correct name.

It messes with the commandline output in a standard Windows commandline Window tho, not really sure we want that.. Same problem for some SL stuff. Probably need a way to filter / replace characters even for regular CL output.

"attachee" approximately matches the following
supported machines (best match first):

attache Attach├®
aceattac Ace Attacker (FD1094 317-0059)
afm_10 Attack From Mars (1.0)
afm_11 Attack From Mars (1.1)
afm_113 Attack From Mars (1.13, Free play)
