Summary 07748: windheat, windheatj, windheatu, windheata: The emulator hangs on "Don't touch the steering wheel" screen.
Description This game used to be playable on MAME 0.175 aside from a random gameplay crash that hangs 3D Graphics and a Bad Chip error (see bug #07490) after game over screen. When I try to play this game in the latest MAME, the emulator hangs and spikes the CPU Usage to 100 when I come across to this screen.

Unemulated force feedback. One of the dip switches (I think switch 3 named "Transmission Type") needs to be set to "on" to bypass the force feedback. This would disable force feedback on actual hardware.

Oops, my bad. I meant to say Dip switch #3 needs to be set to "on" to disable force feedback.

Did you delete your nvram so the machine starts fresh?
I tried 0.224 and current day Git compiles and they both boot windheat correctly for me.
I don't have any steering wheels or other hardware to test - this is simply loading the machine via command-line "mame64 windheat"

Yes even when I started the game for the first time on other PC, the game still hangs despite the game says "Working".
Oops, my bad because I'm using the MAMEUI build for it lol

I would suggest attempting run with -norc (noreadconfig) trigger in command-line
"mame64 -norc windheat"
Of course, if you have non-standard rom paths, you'll need to add the -rompath path\to\roms trigger so the roms can be loaded

So MAMEUI is locking up, but baseline MAME from mamedev.org is booting?

Tried in MAMEUI, it does exactly the same as MAME. Must be something wrong in your setup.
