Summary 07963: chaoshea (Chaos Heat V2.09O): "ZSG2 write mask 00FF, contact MAMEdev" repeatedly displays once game has loaded
Description When trying to load and play Chaos Heat V2.09O, the message "ZSG2 write mask 00FF, contact MAMEdev" repeatedly displays. However, game appears to play fine including the sound.
Steps To Reproduce 1. Load Chaos Heat V2.09O
2. Once game has loaded, message repeatedly displays
Additional Information This issue only affects Chaos Heat V2.09O. Chaos Heat V2.08J doesn't display this message at all. Note that I tried to find an existing record for this message on Mametesters.org and the MAMEDev site but couldn't find anything. In addition, I tried loading up Chaos Heat V2.09O in MAME versions 0.229 and 0.223 and the message still displays so regression version is prior to 0.223.

This message is only displayed if you use the GNET Bios v1 flasher. If you use the GNET Bios v2 flasher, message is not displayed.

I tried on MAME 0.231, using -bios v1 and flashing a fresh NVRAM (deleted previous one completely) and attempted to run on both release binary and my MAME 64-bit DEBUG=1 build and I saw no Pop Up messages stating to contact MAMEDEV for anything. I ran through the demonstration screen to title 3 times, in-game demonstration twice on both normal and DEBUG=1 builds - still nothing. I also played about 5 minutes on the normal release build - again no Pop Ups.

Are you positive there are not other settings that might be interfering? Have you tried to duplicate in a completely new install in a fresh folder with unmodified setting from default?

Can anyone else duplicate this?

I tried it on 2 separate PC setups and reproduced the issue on both setups. I will take a look at it again later this morning. Thanks

I cleared the NVRAM out and that has cleared the issue. This is strange as I never ran this game on at least one of the PC setups. I will do some more testing to see if can recreate the issue. Regards

I haven't been able to reproduce since clearing the NVRAM. Not sure what happened there. I will certainly clear out any NVRAM, etc. in future before reporting.
Sorry for wasting anyone's time. Please close.
