This is because the main CPU has not waited for the sound CPU to boot up. Needs confirmation on a real PCB.

I assume it's not a bug.
Attract mode plays music for a few minutes after game over, then fades out to complete silence.

According to this video, it is a bug. During the video the pcb is booted twice. In both times the game boot starts with music.

I guess I'll add something, the 4.7 prototype rom for KINST is unaffected.

No problem in Killer Instinct 2 pcb:



It seems the initial boot in MAME is too fast compared to pcb. In MAME those blue and red screens take just 2-3 seconds. They are present for about 7-8 seconds in the original hardware, and a bios sound checking actions here. In MAME, that typical bios checking sound appears out of place, right where the music should start. Could this be the problem?
