Summary 06445: mk: [possible] In attract mode at the certain point, music and fx are off
Description Launch mk and watch the attract mode, that is a loop of the following sequences:
Mortal kombat title, score screen, character bio, some demo fights

After the 4º loop with the scorpion's bio, the sound and fx are off. I would like if someone can check it with an original pcb.

If you insert a credit, the fx works and the music plays in the character selection screen,
Steps To Reproduce Wait until the subzero bio is displayed in attract mode (5ºloop).
Additional Information Provide a save state for the mame 179 at the beggining of the 5º loop.

Demonstration sound for many games isn't on 100% of the time. Some alternate between demonstration sounds, demonstration silence. Atari games were known to only play demonstration sounds once every 4 or 5 loops (Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom [indytemp], for example). Mortal Kombat 2 [mk2] does a similar thing.. muting sound after a few cycles of the title screen and it has completely different sound hardware.

I honestly don't believe that something like this is even worth investigating.

After what you said and some time investigating, I think you're right, is the normal behaviour of the game. You can close the report unless someone would like to compare it with a real pcb...

I remember perfectly about it.
After a time attract sound is disabled and will be enabled after some cycles.
Tafoid is correct. Several arcades work of same mode.
Emulation is correct too ;-)
