Summary 04763: tempest: Missing graphics in this set only
Description In the PPC build this set does not show the shoots travelling from the ship to the enemies (but the enemies are destroyed as they were hit by invisible ammos) and the starfield in warp sequence at the end of every level is also missing.
Only the "Revised Hardware" is affected, the normal Rev.3 works as expected.
Steps To Reproduce Always, you can look at attract mode or play the game.

Looks fine on the Windows end as far as I can tell. It seems odd that one set out of all of them wouldn't show enemy shots or the starfield - but given you are on PPC I suppose anything is possible. There is a Rev 1, - Revised Hardware (tempest1r) - do the missing graphics exhibit there as well?

I've just tried the tempest1r set and the issue does not occour, no missing graphics. Then I have launched again the rev3 "revised" an, oddly, the graphics was correct too! This was funny! Since I still believe in my eyes I've made a little investigation about this and I've found that, very likely, the issue was nvram related...
I discovered that the first time I launched the game with 0145u6 build the graphics was missig but when I deleted the nvram and relaunched the game the graphics was there. All other sets that were not launched before does not exhibit any missing graphics because no nvram previously existed. The final proof is relaunch the 0145u5 build and load the set, playing a bit and then use the 0145u6 build to see what happens: the graphics was missing again.
Then, after deleting the nvram file, the graphics was correct and complete.
I really should have the good habit to delete the nvram folder on every new MAME release... I think the issue can be closed.
