Summary MESS-specific 04908: pce, tg16: MESS does not load some USA based games for PCE
Description When attempting to load:
Final Lap Twin (USA)
Neutopia (USA)
Neutopia II (USA)
(Possibly others, but I have found these 3 in particular)

MESS just sits with a black screen. I remember this being an issue with earlier PCE emulators, and you had to set the emulator to a Japanese system or vice versa. It seems to be a region lock out issue because the Japanese versions of these games run just fine.
Steps To Reproduce Simply load the USA versions of any of these games:

Final Lap Twin (USA)
Neutopia (USA)
Neutopia II (USA)

in MESS and MESS will load the roms and a black screen will appear and never go away.
Additional Information Once again, I believe this is a region lock issue, I recall it happening in early versions of Magic Engine and having to set a particular option to load them. I'm sure its an easy fix but is being overlooked.

This sounds like intended behavior to me.

If you're loading a USA game on a PC Engine (which is the Japanese model,) then the region lockout is working as it is supposed to. Same with the opposite case (trying to load a region locked game on a US TG16.)

Please clarify if this is what you mean, because if so, then it's working as intended and this report will be closed.

Ok you're correct, my mistake please disregard this error, I had no idea I had switched systems from TG16 to PCE. Extremely sorry.

That's okay, we all make mistakes now and again.
