In the slider controls, there are only two volume controls, for "lspeaker" and "rspeaker" which also say "Discrete Ch.1" and "Discrete Ch.0".

As I can't tell if the AY sound is there or not, I'm leaving this new while adding this info.

The volume is controls with the discrete filtering.. AFAIK you don't have direct adjustment of the AY in cases with the discrete filtering.. only the filter volume controls the sound.

MAME 0.146u4 and current SVN sound just fine to me, 32-bit.
Can anyone else with 64-bit confirm?

Sounds great here with MAME 0.146u4 and current SVN compiled X64 build.
I hear music, sound effects, etc. I have never played the real cab of this game, but sounds just fine here.

I searched "gyruss arcade" on youtube and seems to sound the same as in MAME from the few videos I played.

I see no evidence from multiple testers of missing Gyruss AY sound. While the slider isn't available, since it's all fed into the discrete filtering, I don't believe it's meant to be adjusted outside of source.

Closing.
