Cannot confirm. Tried 0.146u4, 0.147 and current SVN binaries with no crash in demonstration (let run for a couple minutes) as well as playing a game. 32-bit, command-line, no UI.

successfully booted up, coined up and started playing with self compiled u5 and 0.147 X64 versions. I tried 10 times each binary to reproduce this and I couldn't do it.
I'm wondering if any unofficial patches were used (hiscore or other) because there isn't an official MAME binary of 146u5 it would have to be self compiled.

Yeah, not sure what build you are using but it is suspect. I'd suggest getting one that gets built fresh from mamedev.org in an integer release or at mameworld.info, often people build 32 and 64bit builds which are reliable and built of 100% baseline sources.

You also didn't mention your rig (which from what I remember was quite speedy).. there also might be some other commands at play (hlsl, other video related commands). I'll leave it open for a bit this evening in case you discover something else.
