Summary 08820: rewind feature can cause MAME to lock up
Description I was fiddling with MAME's rewind feature, IMO quite unintuitive with how it doubles frame advance (shift+P) with saving an internal rewind state instead of automatically. But that aside, it's possible to make MAME lock up.

See Steps To Reproduce.
Steps To Reproduce mame.exe pacman -rewind

- hold shift (keep holding it)
- press P
- press tilde
- press P
- press tilde
- press P
- MAME locked up

Default keys Tilde/P are for MAME 0.262 and older.
On 0.263, the default keys are F4/F5.

My version of mame (current git) has the new keys, so I had to use the release version of arcade instead. The reported issue was able to be reproduced.

Can you add some info of how this could be replicated with the rearranged F-keys?

When the next release is out, sure. MAMEtesters = for official releases.
Plus, RB may have to do a pokemon battle with a dev that disagrees with the UI shortcut key changes, and the thing getting reverted depending on who won.

Yes fair enough. The situation does look uncomfortable at the moment - we'll see what happens.
