Summary | 02182: ragtime, boogwing, boogwinga: Wrong transparencies | ||||
Description |
The explosions should only have transparent smoke, see pics from PCB. Also i think the exlosions should be darker (or more contrast?) because during the intro the explosions (only in ragtime) look much brighter and the actual smoke is can only be seen if i turn up the brightnes very high on my monitor, in MAME they are seen very easily, maybe this is related to the transparencies? see pic for PCB and MAME. Also the water from the fire hydrant (i think thats whats it's called?) is trasparent on the PCB but not in MAME, i include a MAME pic for showing what object i ment. |

I found another "bug" it's the man that can be seen in the cockpit of the big airship (ok maybe it's not an airship but anyway :-) i mean when you see him from outside the airship he appears as a bright shadow (maybe an unwanted transparent effect?) in MAME, while on the PCB he looks like when you see him inside the ship... i will try to do an screenshot of what i mean from MAME later and maybe a video recording from my PCB if it's possible. |

Here is a video showing some effects (not the water transparency): http://arcade.ym2149.com/capturecard/greatragtimeshow_pcb_gameplay.zip I recorded at half frame rate to get a stable picture, so you can't se some flashing effects, like when you damage the boss ship at first level (intro). The video also shows the shadow (missing in MAME) of the first level boss. |

Added a pic showing the cockpit guy, the glass also has some kind of "reflection" effect... check the video it's better than showing in pictures :-) Also added a pic showing that the clouds on transporter level is not tranparent on the PCB like in MAME... could be the same as with the explosions that only the outer part is tranparent but it's hard to see if thats really the behavior on the clouds, make your own judgement by checking the pic and movie. |

the "0228.png" shows a big machine on the Detroit level wich also should use the transparency effect... pic is from MAME, sorry i don't have any pic from the PCB for direct comparison. |

The last boss gif is showing the transparent sphere (it is mentioned in the source) but it looks like it is also changing the colour to more "grey" on the PCB. I have done a recording from the PCB showing the last boss: http://arcade.ym2149.com/capturecard/ragtime_pcb_lastboss.zip (110mb) You can aslo see the (mentioned from the source) beam effect. Interlaced video so it does not look so good. Another note is that the fire hydrants water is not transparent during the end credits (only during the levels)... so MAME is correct there at least :-) |
