Summary | 05782: choplift: misaligned graphics on levels 3 & 4 | ||||
Description |
note: the two clone sets 'chopliftbl' and 'chopliftu' do not have this problem:- for the parent set: choplifter (8751 315-5151): on level 3, when you are flying the helicopter and scrolling the screen, the large yellow trees graphics become misaligned (see the snapshot picture below). the alignment is ok when the screen is not scrolling. a save state (for mame 0.155) is provided. here is a video (mame 0.155) showing the level 3 issue: http://www.mediafire.com/download/b9l4loyjb4q6bdh/choplift.avi EDIT: i just noticed the graphics are also misaligned in a similar way on the final level, level 4. (level 4 save state now added below). i dont know if it is related to the problem, but levels 1 and 2 contain the fancy parallax scrolling ground, but levels 3 and 4 do not. |

zaxxon, thank you for the save states. In the future, please take snap shots with the F12 key only as stated in the Rules and Guidelines. I'll confirm this as I'm seeing the same behavior here. |

there are reports on MARP that the parent set crashes sometimes too, could be the MCU rom that was hand-repaired (afiak) is still bad. |

According to Osso, the correct dump of the MCU does not fix the misalignment bug. Has anyone checked if it happens on real hardware? |

I've seen videos on the internet which do not present the issue, but they could be the clones not affected by this bug. |

I tried to force 1 screen update per frame, and I tried to force an update at each scanline, neither affected this issue. It's suspicious that it works fine on chopliftu... |
