This is invalid. The U.S. Rev. 1.6 2 player version came way after the 3 player dedicated versions according to the BIOS release date below:

U.S. Rev.1.6 - 2 player conversion kit pcb:
BIOS Date: 10FEB1991 16:15:18

This is NOT a Rev. 1 pcb as you may be thinking, it's more a rev. 10 pcb instead because it came after Rev. 9, the latest 3 player revision. And this is absolutely true because some changes made to the gameplay from Rev. 5 onwards are present in this version as well. I've confirmed these gameplay changes myself since I've played all versions.

What you say makes sense. Closing.
