Summary 07714: gauntleg: Missing streaming BGM/Sounds during gameplay
Description Bug 05636 fixed this issue in 0.155. But, in 0.222, the bug has returned. Might have broken again in any version between 0.156 and 0.222.

Music and sound seem to be present up until you start the the first level at the Mountain. At that point the music and most sound effects seem to disappear and it is not updated. By the end of the stage, sound effects return during score tally and for the next level.
Steps To Reproduce Select Mountain kingdom
Play about 30 seconds
Observe announcer stops speaking, no more combat sounds

Try deleting your nvram file (or moving it in case you have highscores you want to keep), then restart creating a new one. Adjust the volume and it seems to work until you reboot again. This doesn't appear to be like the same issue as before and appears tied to nvram settings for some reason.

Some games have some sound timing issues playing sounds/music at incorrect places. In warfa, the menu music will continue to play into the first cutscene and ingame, gunshot sound effects sometimes wouldn't play.

Possible ADSP related timing bug?
