I just checked the driver comments: Background noise in scion (but not scionc). Note that the sound program is almost identical, except for three patches affecting noise period, noise channel C enable and channel C volume. So it looks just like a bug in the original (weird), or some strange form of protection. If the noise is there in 0.143, then I can't hear it at all. If so it certainly gets louder in 0.144. Maybe this report should be closed? |

I wonder if the patches are intentional, or a bad dump. Also is channel C used for anything else? maybe it's not routed if the game doesn't need it. |

The Arcade Archives version does not have the constant white noise (thus appearing fixed compared to MAME), but there is also a case where you can hear a voice say "Wow" after completing an area, which doesn't seem to be emulated in MAME. |

When does it say "wow"? (better to make a new MT report for that, this one is not related) |

In the video: Stage 1, after completing area 3 (the one with the bird's eye view of the city and fields). Exact timestamp: 1:47. |

P.S. I don't know if there are any in-game prerequisites to be able to hear that voice line. |
