Summary 08003: quartet and clones: The default fire and jump buttons are mapped differently between quartet and quartet 2
Description On Quartet by default, the fire button is mapped to button 1 and the jump button is mapped to button 2. On Quartet 2 by default, this arrangement is reversed so fire button is mapped to button 2 and the jump button is mapped to button 1. Unless I am mistaken, the default controls should be same for Quartet and Quartet 2 although I do understand it is easy to remap them using the built-in menus.
The original Quartet arcade control panel clearly shows the jump button is to the left of the fire button for each player. However, I couldn't find a picture of the Quartet 2 arcade control panel online to compare it with.

The manuals for both games are on archive.org
https://archive.org/details/arcademanuals?query=Quartet&sin=

The Japanese instruction cards for Quartet 2 show the jump button on left and shoot on the right.

Thanks. I just found it a few minutes ago. It looks like Quartet 2 is mapped correctly

I had a brief look at the source code and it's an easy change to swap the fire and jump buttons on Quartet to match Quartet 2. It would be great if I could get this confirmed and make the change myself so I can finally make a contribution, albeit a very small one!!

So, as near as I can figure, only the original Quartet sets have the buttons in reverse on keyboard mapping? I can confirm that with Quartet 2 being correct.

It is just the original Quartet sets that have the buttons reversed.
