Summary | 08393: sf2hf and clones: graphics glitches in the screen | ||||
Description |
Thanks for read my report. That problem happen since MAME versions before 2010 and not break gameplay emulation. Randomly wrong details graphics are in the screen, backgrounds are cut off or are positioned in wrong area of screen and the whole screen shakes. Please see the video in speed 0.5 or 0.75 because sf2hf is fast. In video the issues happen in few miliseconds, but has times that happen in more time. Image 1 See in the red X. The background in righ side not was drawn. Image 2 In red arrow has an wrong black line. Image 3 In red arrow has an wrong black line. Image 4 In red arrow has an wrong black line. Image 5 glitches in background. MAME emulation video capture Also the whole screen shakes not affecting sprites. During tests not was possible capture that issue because is rare. That issue not happen with ffight or sf2ce or some others emulated cps1 games. I had played few times sf2hf in arcade. The game had medium quality graphics, but I not remember graphics issues mainly shaking whole screen. Try play for few times. The bug will happen. The glitches happen much in Ken and Dhalsim stages. Another strange detail that need confirmation if is the same type of problem. I saw that happen in another game not being cps1 in MAME several previous versions. Unhappily I don't remind the name of the game. Another problem sf2hf emulation is much more fast than the arcade. Need video capture from arcade machine for confirmation. |

This bug also happens on ssf2 and ssf2t. Mostly on Cammy's stage (England), where the castle walls on the right hand side of the screen tear and glitch if two players jump near them at the same time. I am guessing it may happen due to a "sprites per line limit" in the original hardware, but that is just a guess. CPS-1 had a huge sprite limit of around 1024, but capped-out around 900 due to overheads, the CPS-2 wasn't much different, so it depends how MAME emulates the background layers. Have you seen these glitches happen on original CPS hardware? |

Thanks for replying that information. I had played some times arcade ssf2 and not had glitches. I had played few times sf2hf thus need an arcade video capture. I remember that bug happen in another game not being cps1, but I not remember exactly what was the game. That bug happen since before 2010. The GPU used was an Radeon HD 3300 using last driver version being an GPU with strange bugs when using some emulators thus I not had posted about it and also I not play very much sf2hf. |

I found a video of this glitch on real hardware (56 seconds in the video). Not sure if MAME replicates the bug entirely though. |
