Summary 08598: ibm5150 and clones [satane, satanc]: High-pitched noise from speaker after playing sampled sounds
Description After any of the game's sampled sound effects finish playing, a faint, high-pitched noise will be constantly heard in the background.

Might be a BTANB or lack of a needed filter, couldn't find real hardware references and some videos don't have any background noise while some do.
Steps To Reproduce -Load the pc driver with satanc (you can also load pcega with satane but it will play much slower).
-Press 1 when prompted and wait for a bit.
-Once in the main menu, press 2 to redefine keys. A sound will play and the background noise will start (raise your speakers volume if it's not heard).
Additional Information Seems to happen on all PC-based drivers, like pc/ibmpc.cpp and pc/ct486.cpp.

There's problems with this report.

pccga does not exist, assuming you mean pc

Press 2 to redefine the keyboard, not 1.

I can't hear any high-pitched noise, but then again my hearing is not the best.

You're right, just fixed those. The noise should be more evident after turning up the volume a bit higher than normal.

I, too, used pcega to load it and got to where you remap inputs for the game and I didn't hear anything high pitched, just the sound/tone made when you select a key.

Does it come up in a -wavwrite recording? Are you using DirectSound or one of the other options?

Just uploaded an MP3 with the sound I get. Using the "auto" sound option but it also happens with "directsound".

Probably my ears being old and lack of good audio equipment - it must very high ranged since I can't casually hear it from your wavwrite either.
I'll acknowledge until someone with better ears/equipment and look at this.
