Summary 08918: kchampvs3: Karate Champ freezes when recording avi video while playing the game
Description Karate Champ freezes when attempting to record an .avi video while playing the game. This game has .inp playback issues and loses sync, so you have to record the gameplay video on the fly.
Steps To Reproduce play the game with the aviwrite option enabled to record a video while you are playing the game. It randomly freezes at different points while you are playing it. Sometimes it even crashes, but not every time.

I first tried by using an ordinary hard drive to store the avi and it does freeze a bit, but this is expected with such a large amount of data.

Then I used a SSD instead and it was smooth, no issues.

So I'd advise you to use the fastest drive you have to store the avi. It only takes a few seconds to record over a GB.

Right, I don't think you stumbled on a bug. And I doubt it's only slow specifically on kchamp.cpp.

The INP issue that you reported before: does it happen if you disable cheats and hiscore plugin? IIRC INP desyncs in MAME were fixed a long time ago. If it's only this driver, maybe an uninitialized variable somewhere, just guessing (didn't see any at first glance).
