Summary 01025: mrdot: "Mr Do" (Taito) side-by-side test.
Description test conditions:
Ran under windows in a DOS box due to not being able to run under pure DOS
(Got frameback error). Screen synced to 60 fps via powerstrip.

PCB = Mrdo (taito) bootleg PCB.
Dos mame37b8.

Observations:
-------------

Firstly the colours ( more on this later ).

However, running both mame & PCB at the same time, one thing that strikes you is
that mame is *massively* slower than the PCB. After some 4 minutes of attract mode, mame was 6 seconds behind. After 4 mins, I waited until Mr Do grabbed the diamond and then set the timer going. Six seconds later, mame had caught up.

Okay, more on the colours. There seem to be a significant number of colour differences. Broadly, they are correct. Now, I *know* that colours are very subjective and depend on monitor, videocard etc. However, they do seem to be more out than most.

It is interesting to note that the differences are not so great if you crank the gamma setting up as far as it will go (2.0)

Here are the difference at the NORMAL gamma setting:

1) The colours overall are darker on the PCB. They are quite bright in mame. The
monitor setting for PCB was adjusted such that the surrounding area was just about black ( brightness turned right up then slowly adjusted down ).

2) Apples are orange - stand out clearly against the red of Mr Do.

3) Extra men are orange also.

4) 'SCENE 1' is yellow - shows as green in mame.

5) The checker pattern that makes up the grass is very subtle on the PCB.
The lighter green is not *that* much different from the darker green.

6) The yellow box surrounding 'EXTRA' is slightly darker on PCB (I guess item 1)
applies here) BUT the colour of the high score positions (i.e. 1 through 10 is the same yellow (greener in mame)).

7) The 'MR DO' logo is a light fawny colour on PCB. The border is only *slightly*
lighter than this colour. Subtle again.

As I say, setting the gamma to it's highest level makes mame appear much closer
(but still out) when compared to the PCB.

Can we delete some points of the test here? For example --> 6) The yellow box surrounding 'EXTRA' is slightly darker on PCB
