On the PCB the speed is much faster so there is no time to show any "broken barrier" graphics. So MAME is correct (apart from speed)

I found a pcb video on nicovideojp, (what a discovery!). This video was uploaded in April of 2010
The barrier is never shown, as in MAME.

Considering the emulation in mame was too slow back in 2010, that video is definitely taken from the arcade pcb. Here's a video of how the game ran in mame a month after that video was uploaded (mame 0.138, 15th of may of 2010)
