Summary | 02032: hyprdriv: Sound level not accurate until - or = button pressed.
Description | The current sound level for HyperDrive is too low until the - or = keys are pressed once, then it's at the appropriate level.
Steps To Reproduce |
Launch game. Listen for music at beginning of demo. Hit the - or = key on the keyboard once. Note the sound increases to the appropriate level. It also drops down again when the demo begins a race and you have to keep hitting the keys to get the sound back to the level it should be. |

Even though I run this at under 20% speed, I can see when you hit the = or - button, the volume jumps up. |

I'm unable to produce this as of 0.210. Volume adjustment works fine as is. Edit: Misread the details. Sorry about that. |

Tested This is not solved yet. Absolutely no changes here. Still need to press any volume key to turn the volume back into its adjusted configuration between each scene of the demo. |

I guess the only way to find out is to test this on an actual pcb (requires clearing the data first). I have a feeling this is a bug on actual hardware. |

It only affects attract mode |

I've found out that on Test Menu there's a separation between Ingame volume and attract mode volume. 1) Ingame volume configuration can be set inside Test Menu=>Volume Level 2) Attract Mode Volume configuration is set in Test Menu=>Adjustments=>Aditional Adjustments=>Attract Mode Volume So, the volume keys of the game will only affect the ingame volume configuration permanently. When pressed on attract mode the volume is just altered during the present cutscene. Once the cutscene is over, the attract volume is back to its parameters inside the test menu. On the seattle board this was improved years later in Blitz 2000 in which, when pressing the volume keys, it distinguish between attract mode volume and ingame volume (see first attached image). As you can see, in Hyperdrive there's only a Volume line, which only refers to the ingame volume (see second attached image). I guess this is the normal behaviour of Hyperdrive and this ticket could be closed. |

Yes i verified that the game switches back to the attract mode volume by setting the attract mode volume to maximum. In this case the volume will actually jump up when a new scene is started if the in game volume is reduced by hitting the vol down key. |
