Summary | 02169: frontlin, tinstar, wwestern: Should Front Line be using a positional joystick device for its aiming?
Description | Front Line used a unique large 'dial' that was used to aim his arm and could depress to fire. That would seem to be better handled by the positional analogue like Ikari Warriors instead of as a second joystick as it is now. That would allow mapping to 'z' and 'x' to increment and decrement. Thoughts?

Added other sets with similar control scheme for aim/fire. Set up in feedback mode. |

If the positional type had the features it was proposed to have, I'd say yes, as then the game could be played with dials, rotary sticks, 8-way joysticks, and original controller. However, right now the positional type can't be mapped with an individual digital input per valid analog value, so switching types would remove the abilty to use the most common input type (8-ways) that currently work. So... I'd say wait for now, but change when positional is feature complete. |
