Summary | 02279: cubeqst: 0.127u4 chdman -fixavdata randomly fails
Description |
Running chdman to fix the metadata for the cubeqst chd randomly fails at a random hunk number. I've had it fail at 26xx, 27xxx, and now 30xxxx. It seems to be random. I copied it from one hdd to another with no read issues reported in windows. I've had no hdd read issues with any other software and this is happening on both of my hard drives and failing at random places on both and I know they both aren't bad. I've killed off every service I have and it still does it. |
||||
Steps To Reproduce | Running" chdman -fixavadata cubeqst.chd"
Additional Information |
chdman - MAME Compressed Hunks of Data (CHD) manager 0.127u4 (Sep 18 2008) Input file: D:\cubeqst.chd Error getting VBI metadata: can't find metadata VBI metadata incorrect size Error reading hunk 30377 from CHD file: decompression error |

I successfully converted the CHD file here. I don't have the -verify error either. By seeing no other user reporting the same issue, it may be a local problem. |

I actually recompiled a vanilla build (no C2D optimizations) and no more wonkiness. I was just able to convert and verify the chd with no random/intermittent failures. I'd have to say that this is only an optimization/compiler issue. I'm just going to place the blame on any future issues I have on the fact that my PC uses a Via chipset ;-) |

Closing this out since no one could duplicate. The record is here if something is discovered later and this can be reassigned. |
