Summary 02786: Mame 0.128 LCD Topgun offscreen shooting crashes Mame
Description Hello,

Here is my setup.

I'm using Mame 0.128 and Mamewah as the frontend on a WinXP. I also used "instant sheller" to hide Windows, so the PC starts Mamewah directly.

Now with my LCD Topgun and the latest EMS drivers, everytime I start a game, if I shoot offscreen, Mame quits and I'm back to Mamewah.

I managed to capture the error.log that mame generates when it crashes.

I discovered that it crashes only I never pointed at the screen. So if I point at the screen or if i move a mouse device (like trackball or spinner) or doesn't crash.

Attached is the log.

Thank you.

MAME is not designed to be used with something like "instant sheller".
It's not a place to post a problem of it.

And we don't need any "Hello" or "Thank you" in the description field.
Please write down the detail of your problem there.

the error log has nothing to do with the crash either. It's just a rather verbose output from whatever game was being run at the time.

however fujix is right, the tests were made in an unsupported environment. if the same occurs in a normal windows XP setup, and it's actually MAME that crashes, not the gun drivers, then it might be worth further investigation. Otherwise, the report is invalid as stated.

Note, that the chances of it being fixed however are minimal unless it can also be reproduced using a mouse. Very few, if any, of the devs have guns to test as an input device.
