Summary 03100: blitz2k, sfrush, wg3hd, carnevil: DIFF CHD Error: Unsupported CHD Version
Description All four of these games fail with the same error, before/during the ROM loading process. The ROMs verify OK, the CHDs have been upgraded to version 4 and pass chdman -verify. I've included sample output from CHDMAN for the carnevil CHD.

I don't have a version 3 CHD any longer to test with, although I know blitz2k was working with my v3 CHD in the 129 series.
Steps To Reproduce Load game.

Could it be related to this bit from 0.130u1 whatsnew?

The first impact you will find is that all of your CHD differencing
files are invalid. Just delete your "diff" directory contents
entirely.

yes, it will be because the diff folder (which stores any data the games attempt to write to the HD) has files in an older incompatible format.
