Summary 03111: "Autocenter" active on Analog Inputs.
Description Well MAME features a nice "Analog Input" simulation for non-analog Inputs which is a nice thing.

For some reason it RECENTLY started to affect real analog inputs as well.

If I don't constantly move my analog source, be it a wheel or a analog joystick, MAME keeps "autocentering" the value which it shouldn't.

A workaround would be to set autocenter speed to 0.

This used to work fine just a few versions back.
Steps To Reproduce Fire up "outrun" with an analog joystick/wheel attached.
Go to UI options, and remove any input on "Paddle" except for the analog input. (Set "Paddle Analog" to "Joy 1 X-Axis")

Then go into outruns service mode, select input test, and move your analog device. "Handle Right/Left" will keep centering back to 80h until you constantly move your device in small steps.

This was reported as 03027. Everything seemed to indicate this was the new MAME behavior for all games dealing with analog input. Added related..
