Summary | 03946: spacduel: Incorrect screen aspect ratio with an artwork file.
Description | When using Windowed mode for this game, there's a problem in sizing the game with an artwork file. No matter what settings I use, it doesn't seem to want to stretch the game to the correct aspect ratio if I stretch it to the correct height.
Steps To Reproduce | If you create a view in the artwork file and specify dimensions of 4000x3000--as works with every other game to display normally across the largest part of the screen--it only uses a small part of the screen. If you increase height to 6000, it will stretch correctly from the top of the screen to the bottom; however, if you increase the width to match it, it shrinks the whole thing again.

This problem was gotten around by creating a brand new artwork file from scratch. Apparently, there's something in the graphics files on Mr. Do's official page that causes MAME to take their dimensions into account even when they are not in use (i.e. the wood and the bezel). An apparent bug nonetheless, but I found a workaround. |

Could you upload your lay file to reproduce the problem? |

Done. I attached the file that I couldn't get to work. |

Thank you for uploading. I confirmed the incorrect aspect ratio when I use the Marquee layout. |

Note that it works fine if you delete the cocktail view from the .lay file and its related graphics files. |

The aspect ratio is wrong when using the attached file, because the screen is specified as 4000x4000 (4:4, instead of 4:3). I don't see anything wrong with the current regular artwork file. |

Since I originally posted this, I've discovered that part of what's happening is that with many games, if you have a graphic in the layout file that's larger than any being used in the view you have selected, it stretches the current view to accommodate that graphic, even when not in use. Upon resampling such graphics to smaller sizes, the problem is not present. |
