I can confirm the behavior, bit it might be related to unemulated mcu protection. Since the game is clearly marked as game_unemulated_protection .. it hasn't regressed. The DIPs were added in 0.133u1, I presume from a manual, but was not tested. In fact, an earlier release just after the game became playable put those locations to "Unknown"... I don't believe they ever worked.

Yeah, I don't know what the MCU does on this game, but other dips work.

these things would be an interesting decap target.

some of the NMK games clearly have additional protection devices other than the NMK004 sound CPU.

This and Thunder Dragon have huge ugly protection simulations for the original sets. (Likewise Double Dealer and several of their/Jaleco's mahjong games) It would be fantastic to see the back of those sims.

As usual tho, the interesting decaps where the code is rather important to the gameplay often aren't the easy ones.

Last I knew Guru had the donated MCU for this game and (presumably) has sent it for decapping?

He got it in August 2009. I don't think he has sent a package since then to the doc, but it will eventually get decapped.

I thought only the NMK004 (sound cpu) was on the decap list. As I said, several have additional protection beyond this.

It isn't on the decap list yet but it looks like it arrived in August. Search his front page for Hacha Mecha Fighter. I e-mailed him about it.

hachamfb from latest svn reacts to demo sound DIP change though hachamf right now does not have sound.
