I'm not entirely sure if that is the official release date for the game, regardless of the on-screen copyright date. Looking at Sega's own manual for the game, Cool Riders, the date is clearly 1995 as well as it showing "1st printing, September 1995". I'm inclined to leave it at 1995 because of this. |

Yeah I think there is some history to this project. The whole thing seems like some aborted prototype they chucked out the door (probably because they'd already spent so much on the weird and wacky hardware) The game is probably from 1994, and they decided to push it out the door for actual release in 1995 even in the state it was in. It's Tattoo Assassins level weird. |

Cool Riders was released 04.1995 and it was reported in Arcade game magazine called 'Gamest' released at 04.28.1995. Also I confirm VGL (Ultimate Video Game List published by AMP group) and year is printed as '94(4.95)' and Sega Arcade History (published by Enterbrain) is '1995/4' too. In mamedriv.c, 'DRIVER( coolridr ) /* 1995.04 Cool Riders */' but no other notes. But in coolridrc... System H1 (c) 1994 Sega ... Cool Riders Sega 1994 BTW, we've been over this before? |

The text in the driver is based on a "Guru" readme of his PCB info. Having no other sources of information, he took the screen copyright as the release date - which is fine in near all instances. In this case however, 1995 is the intended release date. |

I've updated the source to clarify the situation a bit more, using Shimapong's references. Closing. |
