Summary | 04178: cmmb162: Year should be 2002 | ||||
Description |
The date 8/23/2002 appears several times in the ROM. Also 2002 is mentioned on Cosmodog's website for the game - http://www.cosmodog.com/about/etcetc/cmmb.html Also the name should be "Centipede, Millipede, Missile Command, Let's Go Bowling" - kind of unwieldy but that's what's listed on Cosmodog's website. |

It was sold as 'Multipede' hence the name |

That's not what the website of the manufacturer Cosmodog says. An upgrade kit is sold as Multipede - http://www.arcadeshop.com/multipede/multipede.htm There was a previous multigame with Centipede, Millipede and Missile Command (no bowling), perhaps it went by that name (though probably not with Missile Command in it). |

Interesting stuff.. :) will be corrected for 141u1 Yeah, I googled around too, and it seems an earlier revision of this cab didn't have the bowling game. (that one went by the name Centipede/Millipede/Missile Command... commas or slashes, dunno :P ) |

I strongly disagree with the name change on this. We previously had plenty of evidence to support the 'multipede' name. |

Sorry, I can't find any non-MAME source that links this specific game to "multipede", here's some that suggest the contrary: - company's page (already linked above): http://www.cosmodog.com/about/etcetc/cmmb.html - developer's linkedin: http://www.linkedin.com/pub/andrew-pines/b/a47/1ab - interview with the developer: http://www.bowl-o-rama.com/press/?page=gameroom - a cab for sale: http://www.quarterarcade.com/Game.aspx/586 (zoomed in: http://www.quarterarcade.com/img/vol2/586_0_fs.jpg ) and the multipede kit sold at arcadeshop is definitely not this |

Here's an earlier revision of the cab on ebay, without the bowling game: http://cgi.ebay.com/CENTIPEDE-MILLIPEDE-MISSILE-COMMAND-25-Arcade-Game-WOW-/260715120504 also uploaded a pcb pic of cmmb162, note the CPLD |

Even if the game title screen doesn't mention it, this game is sold as Multipede. And, again, the policy is to use the name that really represents the game, and that means not only what the title screen says. If you check carefully, the Ms. Pacman / Galaga thing in MAME doesn't mention the 20th Anniversary thing to anywhere, but it's still labelled as such in the game description. |

Agreed about that policy, but none of my posts and none of the links I posted are about the game's titlescreen, and the Multipede kit sold at arcadeshop.com is something totally different from cmmb. |

Readme says Multipede, so I suppose it's taken from a PCB marked Multipede. Gimme a better reference than this ...Centipede, Millipede, Missile Command, Let's Go Bowling. Team Play Multipede 1.00 PCB by CosmoDog Flash ROM AT29C020 Cypress CY39100V208B CPU WDC 658C02-8P-14 CY37128-P100 CYC1399 |

I can't get better references than the ones above. Anyway, I'm not convinced that it's Multipede, and I'm convinced that I can't convince you that it's not, I'll stop trying. :P |

Kale, Haze: Months have passed, are you two less emotionally attached to the cmmb driver and wrong-though-nicer-sounding "Multipede" name to allow it to be corrected now? :P some good references above, and more here: cab from publisher: http://www.teamplayinc.com/CMM/index.html brochure from publisher: http://www.teamplayinc.com/CMMB%20Brochure%202003.pdf the actual multipede kit, is not cmmb: http://www.brasington.org/arcade/products/ |

Well if the PCB it was dumped from was marked as Multipede, which is what Kale / the readme would suggest then I still feel that was the intended title... maybe they didn't use it on the screen in the end because of the other Multipede stuff tho? It essentially seems to have been left without a real title, as you can see, in some places it's CMMB, in others it appears to have been Multipede, you could even guess from the brocure the name is Retrocade Classic Edition ... then sometimes it's also just refereed to by the individual game names.. Not exactly well marketed. I think whatever you change it to there will be debate. |

Maybe you can simply contact the developer and ask what their preferred title is? Assuming "Multipede" isn't _too_ tied to MAME, they should be able to answer you. I'd do it, but I am a bit too busy right now... |

Yeah, I decided to contact them and got: from [name taken out]@cosmodog.com (...) And the official name is the ungainly "Centipede/Millipede/Missile Command/Let's Go Bowling". |
