Description |
When you finish a level or lose a life, the game shows how many lifes you have. But if you get more than 10 lifes, the "1" of the tens is replaced by a crown. |

I'd argue that this is expected behavior. If lives were 20.. 30 or more, that crown doesn't change. If it were a simple misassigned character, that character would change in accordance with the changed tens digit - but it does not. |

Further research shows this is also evident in the home console version (anything over 9 lives show the crown). So, it's a BTANB. Information link: http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/stuff/smb_lives.txt |
