Seems to happen when Kano's screen appears. Emulation also slows to 61% (from 100%) when the screen goes black. (Intel Core i5-2520M @ 2.5GHz)

didn't smit say the board crashed in the same way?

it's probably bad roms, or a badly tested hack which somebody sold on ebay just for the hell of it ;-)

From Smitdogg:
OK it appears this thing really is a prototype. The owner says it crashes on the real hardware in attract mode on the actual card it came with. You have to start a game quickly, wow. No idea how he could have gotten it other than from the bootleggers themselves.

So, this is an expected bug of letting the demo run too long on this bootlegged hack of the original game. The only way to avoid it is to simply coin up and play.

- Replaced bitrotted rom for Mortal Kombat Turbo 3.0 (mkyturboe) which
  caused hanging during demonstration. [bulldawg]

Looks like this one is double-resolved., it was actually a bad dump. If someone gets a chance to grab the new ROM and test this one out, change the resolution from BTANB to something more appropriate.

Supposedly one rom in the set was historically unable to be read properly and there is this "new dump" which corrects the problem. Even though I added it on Smit's word, I'm skeptical that it's just not a bigfix rather than a redump. In any case, we'll leave this as it stands for now.

Yeah, the original dump was not bad given the PCB crashed in the same way. Precision is important on this stuff :)

How does the new dump compare to the old one? Are there just a few bits flipped (implying bitrot) or are there substantial changes (implying a bugfixed version of the bootleg code)?
