Summary 04952: crusnwld: [possible] No manual transmission
Description In the recently added Crus'n World Rev L2.5 there is no screen for choosing transmission between manual and auto, it is always set to auto.
It's a completely different behaviour from Rev L2.4, is that correct?

I'd say it's more possible that this latest revision might be an upright cabinet without a shifter or clutch.. I don't believe there is protection that would eliminate that selection screen. Confirmed pending verification from actual cab, if possible.

Shouldn't this be flagged Acknolwedged while pending verification, Tafoid?

It's a much more recent version than 2.4

the shifter stuff is missing in the test menus too (the only trace of it is in the audit screen where it has automatic / manual selection counts)

the game is either upright or cocktail based on a dipswtich, so I don't think that's it.. looks more like they intentionally disabled it in this revision for whatever reason, maybe there was a problem with it, so they offered this revision as a very late 'fix' by simply turning it off? Of note there is a graphical issue reported in manual mode here on MT, maybe that actually occured on real hardware sometimes too?

I'm changing this to Ack'd; it's a more appropriate status than Conf'd for this particular issue, which is going to need some further research.

Some Cruis'n World cabs were converted from Hyperdrive cabs, so they didn't have the shifter.
It seems Hyperdrive was a failure and Midway offered a conversion kit to change the cab to Cruis'n'World. For that purpose they had to alter the game itselft, removing the manual transmission option within the game. That's Rev L2.5 version, the actual parent set in mame.
There's a thread here:

I've uploaded the photographs of the article in this ticket.

(Thanks for beating me to this Metalgod). Dedicated Hyperdrive cabinets had no manual stick built in. California Speed was another game that could be given away (Midway like gave both game kits away for little to no price) to put into a Hyperdrive too. I may have a feeling 00975 may function the same as a Hyperdrive kitted California Speed with no manual stick due to its game coding. A config to make California speed disable the manual transition in Mame would be interesting.

As for Cruis'n World, is it okay keeping a version intended for a kit as the parent set?

Are we certain that Rev L2.5 is kit-only? If we can confirm that, we can close this BTANB.

Definitely kit only (BTANB). Furthermore, this link Metalgod sent mentioned an undumped L2.6 kit version. I'm pretty sure this version was only for balancing and fixes as this still disables the manual transmission. I'll have to keep on the lookout of this version one day.

They also made a conversion kit from Hyperdrive to California Speed. It is dated in november 1998, same date as the L2.5 version of Cruis'n World.

I've uploaded the image of the manual.

More evidence of Hyperdrive-to-Cruis'n World conversion kit here:

I've uploaded the cabinet photo in this ticket

BTANB and Cruis'n World parent should be L2.4 instead of L2.5
