Make sure the BIOS is pointing to boot from hard disk first - no floppy or CD-ROM

Problem still occurs if you set BIOS to C drive first or ONLY C drive.

I haven't been able to boot a floppy disk or get a cdrom install to work, so creating a bootable hard disk on at586 is quite difficult. Taking a bootable disk from another system doesn't work, but that might actually be correct if the bios uses a different translation. If you have found a way to install an OS on at586 then please let me know how you did it.

It's marked as not working, so unless it's a regression and you can give a cast iron svn revision of when it broke then don't expect it to get fixed quickly.

So long as the drive is partitioned as CHS there is no translation and is bootable with different BIOS's. I found it is possible to boot AT586 from a dos boot cdrom to partition and format a CHD. I tested the CHD i created in AT586 under AT486 and it boots successfully. If you'd like here is the bootable ISO i created for testing.

AFAIK this is a regression but i've been unable to find out when it broke so far.
