 Your assertions are incorrect.
Certain complex cheats are crashing in recent MAME versions. Effort is being made by the cheat .xml maker to release an updated cheat pack to fix this, but it is not explicitly a MAME issue. It has nothing to do with cheat discussion from over 6 years ago, either.
