I don't see any oddness in how it plays for 0.185, 0.188, or latest GIT. All the sounds sync to the images on screen and the gameplay elements seem consistent and logical. Plays just like the youtube video.

It's not like the video in my home, the ship and the sprites are slowed down, while mame does not saturate

I would try in 0.188 tonight

This is a weird issue. I can confirm what GIGI88200 is reporting.

I'm getting different results launching the game about 20 times. Sometimes the speed is correct and other times I get the behavior that's being reported here. In either instance MAME reports the game running at 100.00%

It looks like you can trigger it if you press P1 Start when Sonic is talking and waving his finger. You get immediate slowdown and it never recovers.

not a bug, but the way this game is designed, likely debug leftovers.
pressing P1 Start makes it work like slowmo, P2 Start return speed to normal.

Yup. The start buttons do indeed control speed. Not sure if it is a special feature of the cabinet to slow the game down for the youngest players or not, but it does indeed seem to be something designed/programmed into the game.
BTANB, I think.

start buttons should probably be unmapped by default in this case as I doubt they were on the cabinet.. should be IPT_OTHER maybe ?
