It's not easy for me to reproduce this one, even with the info given in the original report on MAMEWorld (http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=369344&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&o=&fpart=1&vc=1).

Actually, shortly after I posted that last comment, I was able to hear the missing sounds in 0.187. I tried one unsuccessful fix, and then considered restoring the old boost_interleave method as an annex to the modern soundlatch semaphore handling. This worked, and I've committed that.
