Summary 06872: sf2049se: Wrong Year Listed (And Publisher?)
Description This Special Edition release of the game did not come out until 2003, the attract mode confirms this. It also seems that it was released under Midway Games instead of Atari Games, who did the original 2049.

Just a bit of information for the original poster, the game was developed by the same people. That branch of Atari was purchased by Williams (or Midway) back in the mid 90's, but didn't change their name until around 1999-2000. The year does appear to be wrong in MAME since progettoemma and klov also lists 2003. Both are probably just listed that way since this game is treated as a clone of another that was released much earlier.

I have attached a screen shot of the service menu. It shows Sep 16, 2003. Not sure what other information there is out there to verify the date.
