Summary 07436: benberob: Unreasonable phenomenon in the game
Description The problem that has existed since the beginning.
In pattern 2, the gas explosion is a miss for the player one floor below. Similarly, a gas explosion on the bottom floor will be a miss for the player on the top floor.
In Pattern 3, fireballs that sometimes fall from above may stay in the middle of the floor, making it impossible for players to move forward.
Steps To Reproduce It happens almost every time during gameplay.

The game is known to have both graphic and sound issues thus requiring the machine flag in source noting this so normally we would not accept bugs reports on drivers/machines with known flaws.

Wd'd like to get actual snapshots from MAME and a recorded .inp file as well in a gameplay detailing the issues you describe. Your screens you are showing in the .png file you uploaded is post-processed and it cannot be determined which version on MAME they were created with, or even if they are PCB snapshots. MAME 0.214 was just released, so please make fresh snapshots with this version (without modification) and describe your issue in text in the report.

We also need to prove that such behavior does not happen on original arcade hardware.

Considering that the blitter device is in a pitiful state I'm marking this as acknowledged.
One of the snaps also shows a priority bug, and I'm aware that the text color in Halley's Comet isn't emulated correctly too.

yeah, I think the driver is the single worst driver in MAME, the collision stuff especially is pure make-believe.

The gas explosions in st.2 are a mystery - the game doesn't query the blitter for collisions here. It appears the game only uses the blitter's collision detection when you're shooting water. hmm..
