Summary | 07464: ip2000: Interpro 2000 Memory Configuration Error Messages | ||||
Description |
While I was setting up CLIX, for a while I had serial2 connected, even though I was not logged in there. At times I spotted the following error message, usually during the first boot setup process in CLIX when I hit the key associated with "Save" "2.003 Memory bank 00000002 contains higher density SIMMs than previous banks: bank 00000000 contains: 1Mx9 SIMM bank 00000001 contains: 1Mx9 SIMM bank 00000002 contains: 4Mx9 SIMM bank 00000003 contains: 1Mx9 SIMM SIMM Module Installation Rules 1. SIMM modules must be installed in groups of four to form banks; 2. All SIMM modules within a bank must be of identical density, ie. all 1Mx9 or all 4Mx9 modules; 3. Lower-numbered banks must be filled before higher-numbered banks, and banks must be filled sequentially (ie., bank 0 must be filled first, then bank 1); 4. All 4Mx9 SIMM modules must be installed in lower-numbered banks than any 1Mx9 SIMM modules. For example, if you already have 4Mx9 SIMM modules in bank 0 and 1Mx9 SIMM modules in bank 1, to install another bank of 4Mx9 SIMM modules would require that the 1Mx9 modules in bank 1 be moved to bank 2, and the new 4Mx9 modules be installed in bank 1." This was using "Intergraph System Software" CD dated 03-MAY-1995. The floppy images for the rebuild were ones I found on the 'net, so I am not sure of the rebuild image floppies. I have not seen it in a while, either - and now I am using rebuild floppy images from this same CD. |

Steps To Reproduce |
Go through the rebuild process on the Wiki page https://wiki.mamedev.org/index.php/Driver:InterPro On the first reboot, configure -serial2 as shown on the (now updated) Wiki page, but do NOT disable the graphics and keyboard, and telnet (I used putty) to the configured port. Monitor for messages. |
