Summary MESS-specific 08070: coco3 [rampage]: No sound in Rampage on the CoCo3
Description When running Rampage under MAME (or VCC for that matter) there is no sound. On a real CoCo 3, there is a ding as soon as the cartridge loads and asks you to select the monitor type, there is a morse code sound that plays when starting a new city, and bombs, bullets, and punching noises in the game.
Steps To Reproduce Load the Rampage cartridge on the CoCo 3 using MAME.
Additional Information I am running 0.224, however from talking to others they have confirmed this bug exists in the newest MAME versions. This games also has no sound when running under VCC, but has sound on the real machine.

Please do not cross post bug reports here and on Git Issues.
MAMETESTERS is the proper place for most issues in MAME be it version to version regressions and/or malfunction (if always existing). Issues (GitHub) is preferred for top of source tree issues and fallout from current source changes (WIP) which has not been versioned or released in an integer binary.

All that said, some discussion here when I researched it:

Please DO NOT REPORT BUGS unless you've tested with the latest posted integer binary from https://www.mamedev.org

Using older versions in a report only ends up wasting peoples' time in determining both the possible regression version or determining if a bug was fixed since your older version was produced. We appreciate the reports but we also appreciate a little help with useful test information.

This report is incorrect. I just tested by compiling from git tag 235 and confirmed sound works: https://imgur.com/a/H7F9ehq (You might have to turn audio on).
I'm sure the issue was fixed by the PR: 8060 on May 22, 2021. https://github.com/mamedev/mame/pull/8060

I'll restest. I guess I was thrown by the 0.224 reporting version initially.

Yes. Indeed it shows sound. I'm not sure why I could not hear it before (I reckon I was testing version around the 0.224 that was reported and taking at his word that current builds do not produce sound either). It was poor checking on my part not to call it out.
I'll assign this as fixed in any case so it is documented. Thanks Tim.
