Summary 08289: looping: Most sounds are gone.
Description "Looping" is nowadays missing all sounds beside speech. This makes no sense since the sound chip AY-3-8910 is pretty standard.

The old version on DOS-MAME (version 0.37?, verified today on my IBM 760XD) already had much more complete sound effects, although it was unplayable because the game suddenly resetted after a while (unemulated protection?) and also sometimes spoke wrong words.

It is hard to pin down. It starts off as an intermittent problem and can't find an offending version with accuracy.

Possibly same as bug 502?

The bug is caused by faulty handling of interrupt inputs in the TMS9980A CPU core. The result is that the TMS5220 interrupt can't be cleared properly and gets stuck.
