Summary | 08289: looping: Most sounds are gone. | ||||
Description |
"Looping" is nowadays missing all sounds beside speech. This makes no sense since the sound chip AY-3-8910 is pretty standard. The old version on DOS-MAME (version 0.37?, verified today on my IBM 760XD) already had much more complete sound effects, although it was unplayable because the game suddenly resetted after a while (unemulated protection?) and also sometimes spoke wrong words. |

It is hard to pin down. It starts off as an intermittent problem and can't find an offending version with accuracy. |

The bug is caused by faulty handling of interrupt inputs in the TMS9980A CPU core. The result is that the TMS5220 interrupt can't be cleared properly and gets stuck. |
