Summary | 08335: topland: Compared to an actual PCB, the Main Theme musics aren't suposted to fade to a quiet volume. | ||||
Description |
EDIT: neguma mentioned that this seems to be fine from the Japanese version, so i took out toplandj Recently i've been watching 2 Youtube videos about Top Landing but played from an actual PCB. After watching them, i've noticed that the Main Theme musics doesn't fade to a quiet volume like MAME does. At least fading the Main Theme musics to a quiet volume can help you listen to the voices more clear. As far i can tell, this only happens with the 3 Main Theme musics, i've been listening them from the VGZ pack: https://vgmrips.net/packs/pack/top-landing-air-system I don't know if the Credits music fades just a tiny little bit or doesn't, i couldn't tell closely. I've saw 2 Youtube videos being played from an actual PCB The first its from the Cabinet: The second its recorded from a PCB: |

I need someone else to look at this to check timings. They at least sound ok on my end and I'm struggling with controls a bit to mirror what is on the PCB reference video. |

In b62_19.ic34 included in toplandj, the sound does not fade out, whereas in b62-42.34 included in topland, it does fade out. In fact, Taito's former sound staff stated that they readjusted the volume from the Japanese version for the European version: https://x.com/nakayamaraiden/status/1826619180411719861 |

@neguma Strange, at least that version seems to be fine, but the World version it's still affected, also the first video I've posted, shows that must be the World version because of the English text and even there, the music doesn't fade to a quiet volume. Well, in that case, i'll have to take out the Japan clone version. |

The ROM numbering skips values corresponding to 37, 38, 39, and considering the values that appear to be country identification bits (00 at the end of b62_26.ic14 versus 02 at the end of b62_40.14), it seems a US version (01) that hasn't been dumped yet might exist. In that version, the text might be in English and the theme song might not fade out. |

@neguma So, in short words: The "World" version it's like the "European" version and there's no "US" dump yet, which also the US version doesn't fade the musics to a quiet volume. |
